Liz Earle MBE is a wellbeing entrepreneur, TV presenter and the number one bestselling author of over 35 books on a range of health, beauty and wellbeing topics. She gives us some of her tips on living a healthier life as well as what she has on the horizon this year…
What’s your top business advice for budding entrepreneurs?
I’d say trust your gut instinct! As I discovered when writing The Good Gut Guide, our gut is linked to our brain via the largest nerve in the body (the vagus nerve) and those inner feelings we get when we instinctively know something to be true is so often proved right.

Liz Earle Wellbeing, my bi-monthly magazine published globally by Hearst,
is built on over 30 years of my award- winning advice, experience and research to bring readers the best ways to look good and feel great. The magazine is packed with tried and trusted recipes and inspirational ideas to bring out the very best in you.

What’s your top three tips for feeling and looking your best?
My main tip would be to look at what you’re eating – how we fuel ourselves impacts on our wellbeing as a whole and it’s important to recognise this. I’m
a great believer in feel-good food so I always try to embrace seasonal, local, organic produce wherever possible as the mainstay of my meals. My advice would be, try not to eat too many things that come out of a packet, always aim for lots of fresh veg and wherever possible go local and organic!
You’re going to be at The Handmade Festival, Hampton Court Palace, again this year, what makes you return to the Festival?
I love the focus of The Handmade Festival on both appreciating the beauty of handmade and the huge array of skills it offers to teach attendees. I came away with some great ideas myself last year and can’t wait to take part again this year!
What can we expect from your ‘The M Word’ talk at The Handmade Festival?
Following on from the publication of my bestselling book The Good Menopause Guide and my follow up Guide The Truth about HRT, I will be sharing advice and tips on how to look and feel your radiant best throughout the perimenopause, menopause and beyond. I have always found it curious that we talk openly about pregnancy and birth but when it comes to an equally important phase in our lives – the menopause – there is an audible silence… I’m looking to challenge that and ensure we embrace the menopause as simply another phase in our lives which is natural and liberating.
What advice would you give to somebody who is looking to improve their wellbeing and health?
I’d suggest starting by making one small change to your diet by focusing on your gut health and adding a daily dose of probiotics – in the form of plain live yoghurt or fermented foods such as kefir.Good gut health has the power to totally transform the way we look and feel and by making one step in the right direction you can make a real difference to your overall health and wellbeing.
How do you stay healthy?
I make sure I eat feel-good food (seasonal, local and organic produce), that I exercise (pilates and gentle runs around the park or my West Country farm) and really importantly that I look after my gut health!
What’s your top tips for encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle for children?
My children have always enjoyed seasonal and healthy foods and lots of fresh country air which is a great starting point for any healthy lifestyle. Whenever possible we eat together as a family – although my two oldest now live and work in London – and so they learn and embrace by example.
